CHECHEN AL QAEDA WHO FOUGHT IN SYRIA AGAINST ASSAD TO START JIHAD AGAINST RUSSIA

GRU: Chechen and NC Fighters Returning From Syria with New Fatwa

CHECHNYA – The website www.argumenti.ru today cites a Russian military intelligence (GRU) spokesman as saying that some 200 fighters from Chechnya and other parts of the North Caucasus who recently fought in Aleppo and Homs, Syria, as part of an “al-Qaeda” battalion of the Free Syrian Army are returning home with a “Fatwa” to conduct Jihad against Russia. According to the unnamed spokesman, these fighters were trained in Turkey and are part of that group killed by Georgian spetanaz forces in late August (see earlier RETWA reporting).

“In the main, they left Russia illegally under the guise of students studying in Islamic institutions. We have information that several North Caucasus entities of the federation even paid part of their expenses and their training. Now trained fighters are returning to Russia in small groups,” the spokesman told the website. He added that even representatives of Amnesty International (who visited the training camps of the Free Syrian Army in Turkey) have confirmed their existence, and that Russia should soon expect an increase in Jihadist activities as a result.
