But why go to Syria?
To fight Jihad against Assad.
Shortly after the inside job 9/11, General Wesley Clark was told of a plan for war and regime change in seven countries in five years. The seven nations were Iraq, Iraq, Syria and Lebanon (named in A Clean Break) together with Libya, Sudan and Somalia. But by 2007 this plan was moribund, so Israel, the USA and Saudi Arabia hatched a Plan in which Saudi Arabia would unleash the nastiest cutthroat Jihadis onto Iran, Syria and Lebanon, but they were first unleashed onto Libya. After NATO became the Jihadi Air Force (at the encouragement of The Guardian) the Jihadis were smuggled into Syria.
For nearly 4 years now Syria has been under attack from international cutthroat Jihadis sponsored by Qatar and that utopia of freedom, democracy and human rights, the terrorist-financing, head-chopping, child-raping Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, morally supported by the UK and France, militarily supported by Israel, the USA, Jordan and Turkey.
And the keyword is 'international'.
There has been a Covenant of Security between MI5 and the Islamic terrorists for decades: the terrorists could operate out of London without fear of arrest, but their activities had to concur with British foreign policy. This led to London being named 'Londonistan'. The war in Syria needs Jihadis. To recruit for Jihad you need preachers. Mosques in Great Britain have been recruiting grounds for Jihad for years. Extremist preachers have been allowed to preach Jihad by MI5. One such preacher was Michael Adebalajo, who could have been brought in for questioning on drugs and terror charges but was instead allowed to preach Jihad against Assad in order to recruit Muslims to be smuggled into Syria, perhaps through one of the pipelines that Roland Dumas was asked to form, and then be trained and fight alongside al Qaeda and their affiliates in Syria. I suspect that similar operations have been ongoing in other NATO countries, and their allies such as Australia.
But these Jihadis are serving a dual purpose.
Besides helping to destroy Syria for Israel, the Jihadis, upon their return to their home nations, are a threat to national security. We saw the potential of this threat two days ago in that attack on the offices of Charlie Hebdo. The attackers (assuming they are not a NATO Gladio unit) were ruthlessly professional...apart from apparently leaving an ID card in a car, leading to their identities being known.
So to help them to protect us from these NATO Jihadis, (not Sir) Andrew Parker, the head of MI5, is now demanding more surveillance powers.
The head of MI5, Andrew Parker, has called for new powers to help fight Islamist extremism, warning of a dangerous imbalance between increasing numbers of terrorist plots against the UK and a drop in the capabilities of intelligence services to snoop on communications.
Parker described the Paris attack as “a terrible reminder of the intentions of those who wish us harm” and said he had spoken to his French counterparts to offer help.
Speaking to an invited audience at MI5 headquarters, he said the threat level to Britain had worsened and Islamist extremist groups in Syria and Iraq were directly trying to orchestrate attacks on the UK. An attack on the UK was “highly likely” and MI5 could not give a guarantee it would be able to stop it, he said.
“Strikingly, working with our partners, we have stopped three UK terrorist plots in recent months alone,” he said. “Deaths would certainly have resulted otherwise. Although we and our partners try our utmost, we know that we cannot hope to stop everything.”

So to summarise:
1. NATO has been encouraging Muslims to go to Syria to be trained by and fight alongside al Qaeda;
2. this is part of a plan for war and regime change in seven nations in five years;
3. Great Britain, and I suspect other NATO members, have been encouraging Muslims, through a Covenant of Security between MI5 and the terrorists, to go to Syria to be trained by and fight alongside al Qaeda in a NATO-Jihad against President Assad;
4. but upon their return home these Jihadis are also a threat to national security so MI5, and other NATO domestic intel agencies, can also demand more surveillance powers to 'protect' us (from their cutthroat Jihadis).
Simples!
But the people can't be arsed to help to stop it.
Sex, money and a Dyson, and they're happy in their little insignificant middle class cocoons.
